Prof. Wilfred Ifeanyi Okonkwo is a certified professional Engineer and a University lecturer. H holds Ph.D, M.Eng and B.Eng. in Agricultural Engineering from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria. Prof. Okonkwo previously served as the Head, department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering, UNN (2012 -2016) where he instructs courses in food and bioprocess engineering, renewable energy technologies and climate.

He served as a unit Head, solar thermal at the National Centre for Energy Research and Development (NCERD) Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Nsukka Centre for several years (2005 – 2006 and 2008 – 2012). In addition to University of Calabar and Federal University of Wukari, Nigeria, has was a visiting Professor at numerous Universities including Rivers State University of Technology, Port Harcourt. He has completed a number of renewable energy projects and worked as a consultant for USAID and UNIDO on the Cross River State Renewable Energy Master Plan Draft and the well-known Ebonyi State Solar Desalination of Okposi and Uburu lakes water in Ebonyi State respectively.
