Abstract

One of the major contributors to the global economy and regulator of hunger is poultry. In Sub-Saharan Africa, poultry production has not kept pace with the rising consumption rate. Monitoring environmental quality remains a major challenge confronting poultry farm management in Africa. To enhance operational efficiency and avert unpredictable data acquisition in poultry production systems, an Internet of Things (IoT) data logger for real-time data acquisition was developed at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, for monitoring the micro-elements and environmental conditions of a Solar-powered Trombe wall poultry production facility.
